Is your doll's tree looking rather drab? Do you need a fun, easy-to-mail present for your friends? Or do you just need a new craft project? These little flat ornaments just might fit the bill!
You'll need cardboard, festive paper scraps (I have some wrapping paper pieces and a few candy wrappers here), mod podge, scissors, glue, stickers, and a few scraps of ribbon.
Start by cutting out your ornament shapes from cardboard. I traced around the bottom of a small jar to make circles -- but these would be really cute as stars, hearts, or other shapes.
Glue a cardboard shape to the backside of a piece of festive paper. Cut off the extra around the edges.
Add some strips of paper, weaving them in and out of each other for a fun look. Once you have them arranged and glued down, trim off the ends.
Add a sticker or two, and cover your ornament with a coat of Mod Podge, being sure to glue down any loose ends that might want to escape! Let it dry.
To make a hanger, cut a small piece of ribbon and heat up your hot glue gun! Glue one end of the ribbon to the back of the ornament, then fold the ribbon over and glue down the other end.
Hang up your ornament, or wrap it up and slip it in an envelope to send to a friend.
