12 Days of Christmas - Day 8 January 1st 2017

Welcome to Day 8 of our 12 Days Of Christmas celebration! And Happy New Year too!

[Giveaway Update:  Congratulations to the following people who have each won a Design Academy class:  Julie C. Linda G, Elizabeth K., Dixie, Tara C., Regina, Jan and Sha! You have each been contacted by email with details to redeem your prize.]

Today we are giving away 8 tickets to the February Design Academy Class (valued at $79)! Yes, that's right - 8 Winners! We've just opened enrollment for the upcoming February session of this super fun, in-depth, online design course and wanted to kick it off with this fun giveaway opportunity!

What's the Design Academy - you might ask... The Design Academy is our 12 part training program that gives you in-depth training on how to design high-quality clothing items specifically at the smaller doll scale. Cinnamon, the lead designer for Liberty Jane Clothing, has spent years perfecting the art of doll clothes design, focusing on an intense level of detail, and considers every piece created - a piece of art! The 140-page course ebook covers the 12 principles of design, most are a part of every design concept (proportion, scale, fabric, color, sewing technique, originality); while a few are meant as an extra element to specific designs (distressing/embellishments, minimalism, homage, repetition). Each chapter in the book is accompanied by a video where Cinnamon, Karin, and Melinda share their thoughts on the topic and encourage you to practice the element discussed through a hands-on homework assignment.

If you love to sew and really want to take your craft to the next level, this course is for you! Study the elements and learn to apply them to your work so that you can stand out in the crowd! We hope to see you there...

(Note - if you purchase the course and happen to be selected as one of the eight winners, we'll be happy to credit your purchase or apply it to the march Pattern Academy!)

It's 2017  - the time when we start setting new goals for the year! Maybe it's to be a better designer, learn new sewing skills, or launch a craft business selling the items you make from all the patterns available at Pixie Faire!

To enter simply respond to this post in the comment box below and complete this sentence:

“My goal for 2017 is to…”

Comments must be left (on this blog post) by midnight (pacific), 1/1/2017.

One entry per person.

No purchase necessary, void where prohibited. Must be 18 or older to enter. While we wish we could run this contest everywhere, for legal reasons it is only open to eligible residents of the U.S. and Canada, not including Rhode Island. This contest is exclusively endorsed by Liberty Jane Clothing and Pixie Faire.

The winner will be chosen randomly from the comments received and contacted through the email provided in the comment.

We will choose a winner and update this post tomorrow to let everyone know who won.

Okay, good luck, and if we’ve forgotten anything we will modify and/or update this post as needed.

Happy New Year!

Cinnamon & The Liberty Jane / Pixie Faire Team

Happy New Year to All 2017. This will be a wonderful year. My New Year’s Resolution, like it has been for many years now is to be a mentor to all Children who come into my path of life. Children these days are not always shown everything to make them have wings when they are old enough to leave the nest of life. I have always opened my heart to children who are interested in learning to sew, or play with dolls, or cook and bake. It is so simple to make a child happy in their lives and they will remember it for years to come.
I also plan to continue my life treating others the way I would love to be treated. Especially when you are in the Grocery store and you see someone in a wheelchair or scooter cart struggling to reach something on a shelf, it is so wonderful to put yourself in their shoes and see how they are feeling and dealing with things and give a helping hand. You never know if you might be in that situation one day. It is always much appreciated and what goes around comes around in love and kindness.

I love the beautiful American Girl patterns that I have drawers full of. I make clothes for the
American Girl dolls that i buy and then give away. I would love to know how you come up
with so many different types of clothing that all fit the dolls so well. I would become a much
better sewer if I could learn the basics.

“My goal for 2017 is to…” stay alive. No kidding… my heart has only one functioning artery so I must learn to move slower and not lift anything over five pounds. Remember to ask for help… even to move my sewing machine. It’s a big adjustment. I still want to sew but must go “slower”. :-)

I love the academy dresses that were brought into the lineup of fun and formal clothing. It is a neat way to inspire our young people to reach for more than the "fancy, frilly, usually pink dresses that are also very popular with our little girls. It’s just truly fantastic to be able to challenge the growth of their minds as a whole, with something as simple and lovely as a classically designed ball gown!

Time is short here because it is late …. art and dolls … I could lose myself in designing and find myself at the same time.

My goal for 2017 will be the year of finishing projects. For years I have had plans to make this or create that. It is time to finish up!! My strongest interest is in dollhouse dolls and dollhouses/roomboxes. On the agenda is finishing a Bridal Salon complete with mannequins of bridal gowns from historical to current times. Then clothing for the Tonner fashion dolls including ball gowns and bridal. Then then the 18" dolls with two wardrobes that are simple for youngers to play with, then sophisticated wardrobe/advanced sewing for a collection of my own. I want to design and include my own machine embroidery in as many designs as possible. Also have plans of finishing a pieced quilt to scale for my 18" doll bed using 1.5 in to 2" pieced squares. Scale work from 1/2 inch to 1 ft to the 18" doll scale and all inbetween is my favorite things to do.

I make and sell doll clothes, earrings and assorted jewelry at craft sales and would like to get sales from on line swap and shop sites too. Doing any types of crafts is my greatest enjoyment. Before my husband died in 1993, I had my own craft and gift shop in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area. After my husband passed away I moved back to my home town area—a town of only 220 people with very limited possibilities of selling my crafted items.
