Freebie Friday (February 5) Help Us Decide

Hi everyone,

On Friday (February 5th, 2016), we'll have one of the following patterns available for free from Bonnie Spencer of Crabapples. It's our gift to you. Vote now and then come back to Pixie Faire on Friday to download your free copy and while you're here be sure to pick a new pattern or two, get some fabric, or join a class.

More About Bonnie Spencer And Crabapples (In her own words),

When I first started Crabapples, I was making doll clothes for the American Girl dolls. I spent a lot of money on patterns that didn't fit, didn't turn out the same as the pictures, or were tedious to construct. In frustration, I started designing my own patterns, and playing around with different construction techniques. I teach Fashion full-time at a community college, so Crabapples is my weekend escape. I live in a small gold-rush town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. It is very satisfying to see my designs interpreted by other people. I love to see how their creativity flourishes and how the patterns morph into something unique. I hope you enjoy your Crabapples pattern, and I'd love to see your finished results!

More About Each Pattern:

The Pajama Party Pattern: It's a slumber party! These fun pajamas are designed to fit the American Girl, but will also fit other 18" dolls. The pattern can be combined in different ways for a wide variety of looks. There are two versions of the PJ's; one for winter and one for summer.

The Flutter Sleeve Dress Pattern: This feminine little flutter sleeve dress is designed to fit the American Girl doll. The dress features a high yoke, and the bodice is fully lined. The flutter sleeve is lined with a contrasting fabric and utilizes a special technique to bind the edge. Armholes are finished with a contrast bias binding. Pattern for the flower applique and an optional patch pocket with contrast binding are also included. The pattern pieces are drawn with a CAD program, and include highly detailed step-by-step instructions with pictures to guide you through. The PDF pattern includes the flower applique as well as panties or bloomers, and the dress.

Walk In The Park Dress Pattern: Take your doll for a "Walk in the Park" in any of these pinafore variations. The pinafores range from classic to contemporary... perfect for any doll from any era. This PDF pattern consists of three different pinafore patterns and includes a dress to wear underneath them.

The School Girl Dress Pattern: This pattern is specially designed for your doll to wear to school, no matter what era she comes from. This versatile little dress is designed to fit the American Girl, but will also fit other 18" dolls such as Gotz, Springfield Collection, Our Generation and Engel . The PDF pattern can be combined in different ways for a wide variety of looks. There are three different versions of the puff sleeve, and three different bodice styles.

Take a look at each pattern:

Whoa, very difficult decision—but finally decided on Walk in the Park. I’ll probably buy School Girl or Walk in the Park along with whichever one wins and will be very happy with any of the four!. I like that Bonnie’s patterns are modeled by some older AG dolls so I know they’ll fit even my “cookie loving” dolls plus the newer ones! Thank you to Bonnie Spencer & Crabapples— also to Cinnamon for arranging it!

Beautiful, all and down the road sure I will buy at least 1 other but school girl dresses gets my vote. The 3 dresses have enough modifications to look entirely different. They also fill a gap in my pattern collection. Just plain lovely. I can see myself making these with a trendy today look and also dressing some period dolls like from the era I grew up in. Thanks Bonnie.

Next would be the school dress which I hadn’t seen before for the AG. The flutter dress is a must have for summer. Now I can’t wait for Friday!!!

Wow! These are all so beautiful but I have chosen the School Girl Dresses because there are so many options and I’m thinking they are more trendy, and although pinafores are adorable, I’m not sure little girls wear pinafores to school these days.
