Freebie Friday (Feb 19) Help Us Decide

Hi everyone,

On Friday (February 19, 2016) we'll have one of the following four patterns available for free. This week we're featuring the inspiring work of Marilyn Clarkin and her brand QTπ Doll Clothing

More About Marilyn In Her Own Words: I am happily married to my wonderful husband Richard and we are blessed with three beautiful daughters. My professional background is in children’s ministries, but I have enjoyed sewing for over 20 years. Throughout the years I have sewn for local dance schools and theatres groups.  With three daughter I have sewn my fair share little girls clothes. In spring 2013 my love for sewing doll clothes began and in March 2014, I started designing patterns for 18” dolls such as American Girl® and Maplelea®. In September of 2015 I added Kidz 'n' Cats to the QTπ family.  I enjoy designing and creating modern everyday clothing and shoes. I love keeping up with current fashion and recreating it for your 18” friends."

Help us decide which one of Marilyn's patterns should be free by voting below. Then come back on Friday to see which pattern won and get the free download.

I vote for the pleated pants. I already have the retro sneakers, and, you did offer them a week or so ago. Skinny pants are so easy to make from most any pant pattern. You just take them in on the sides.

I vote for the skinny utility pant because in real life these look realistic for dolls to look like their owners. You can even wear a dress, or long sweater or layer look over these pants. They look great with high heels, boots, sandals or sneakers. I love the yellow pants that are on the doll on the cover. So spring like for Easter. Depending on the fabric you use, you can create a dress up look, or a casual look. Colors are fun as well. In Germany in the 1980’s I wore tons of skinny jeans with boots in all kinds of colors, I guess this fad is coming back. Yeah!

Marilyn, thank you for offering your QTπ Doll Clothing patterns. Love-love-love the retro shoes, but I have found that the shoe patterns (and ready-made shoes, for that matter) are too narrow and too short to fit my Pleasant Company girls, though they work for the more recent little ladies. Wondered if you or another shoe designer would come up a procedure to adapt Pixie Faire products to the “big foot” AG dolls. Maybe a template to line up existing pattern pieces and make adjustments? Sandals are not such a problem.

I just discovered QT “pie” patterns about a month or so ago and I love them all. I especially enjoy clicking on each design to see what you did with it. Very inspirational! Though it was a difficult choice, I voted for the Retro Sneakers. I don’t have anything like that in my pattern stash so it would be a nice addition. I am so happy that Pixie Faire is featuring various designers. It’s fun to see the face(s) and story(res) behind the logos. ;-)
