Free Doll Clothes Patterns Friday (Jan 27th, 2017) Help Us Decide

Hi everyone,

On Friday (January 27th, 2017) we'll will offer a pattern from Leah Passalacqua from About A Doll 18. We'd love to have you help us decide and then come back on Friday and get your free copy.

More About Leah and About A Doll 18,

Leah began sewing as a child after receiving a toy sewing machine for Christmas. By the time she was in high school she was sewing all her own clothes as well as clothing and other items for family and friends. She has been designing doll clothes patterns for about two years after taking the Pattern Academy through Pixiefaire. She also enjoys quilting and is a member of the Oakland County Quilt Guild. She resides in Lake Orion, Michigan with her husband and two teenage children.

More information about the patterns:

The Sweet Tee Pattern Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl: Is your doll ready for a comfortable, cute new tee shirt? You will be able to sew this "Sweet Tee" together quickly and even repurpose one of those old tee shirts you're not wearing anymore. This tee shirt would go nicely with shorts, jeans or a casual skirt. Our cover girl is wearing shorts from Sun & Sand Shorts Set and is ready to spend a nice summer day with friends. Though rated for the intermediate sewist, a confident beginner should be able to construct this tee shirt with a little patience on the gathers and waistband.  This PDF sewing pattern has been designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl®.

The Sun And Sand Shorts Set Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl: From sidewalk to sand, this 1940's-inspired crop top and shorts set is perfect for a walk around town or a game of beach volleyball with friends. The top's bodice is fully lined with instructions for a button-up closure or a Velcro closure, you choose. The shorts offer a cute button side closure and an elastic waistband in the back for a nice fit around the waist. Although this is an intermediate level pattern, it goes together very quickly.

The Flour Sack Frock Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl: When she finishes sewing this dress from the flour sack fabric she chose at the market, she'll look great whether going to school or helping around the house. Comfortable and cute, this short-sleeved dress features a crossover mock-buttoned bodice slightly dropped at the waist. Also Included are instructions for miniature flour sacks and printable labels.

The Hinata Halter Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl: Hinata is Latin for "sunny place" or "in the sun". With this halter dress, your doll will be ready for those sunny days with either the short version or the maxi. This pattern goes together quickly and easily with just a 1/4 yard of fabric. You will learn an easy way to construct a "set-in" waistband seam. For a fun look, use a coordinating fabric for the waistband.

Take A Closer Look:

Please be sure to leave a comment and thank Leah! Come back on Friday and get your free copy of the pattern and if you use it share a picture with us using the #pixiefaire hashtag.

I was torn between voting for the Sun & Sand Shorts Set or the Flour Sack Dress. I selected the Flour Sack Dress, because I like the wrapped top and can think of variations I could try with it, too. Thank you Leah & Cinnamon.

Congrats to Leah on your new venture! I wish you success! My mother grew up in the ‘40s and she told me about wearing flour sack dresses, so that one really had our attention, but the one we VOTED for is the sweet Tee. We think we’ll try modifying the bottom part and make it into a dress. All of them are beautiful patterns! Thank you!

I haven’t noticed this designer here on Pixie. Thanks for sharing the patterns. The choice is really hard. Most do fit like a sack, a bit too bulgy .No idea what’s is wrong. The fit is not perfect. I guess I don’t want to make them. Thought SUN & SAND SHORTS SET has the best cut. This one is really nice and challenging. Hope it wins.
