This pattern features a knit top with shirring in front and an asymmetrical neck opening, slightly flared sleeves that can be made with a single knit fabric as option 1, or with an overlay as in option 2 or option 3 as a longer version. The top is paired with a flared skirt that can be made in either faux leather or in a medium weight woven fabric such as satin, or brocade or even a light weight denim fabric. The longer version is a casual top that can be paired with pants, skirt or shorts of your choice.
In this pattern, you will learn how to sew with single knits. The knit fabric should have 25% to 75% stretch on the cross grain. There are 3 options for the top included: Option 1 single knit only. Option 2 is done doing an overlay with knit mesh and polyester knit solid as the layer underneath. Option 3 is made with a single knit as in Option 1 but longer.
This outfit has many finishing possibilities for the bottom edge of the top. It can be finished with a bias trim, fold-over-elastic, an organdy ruffle or ribbon detailing. The skirt has elastic in the waistband for ease of fit and opening at back with hook and loop tape closure.
