Camila's Regency Spencer Jacket 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

1   |

This jacket is styled to be reminiscent of the early 1800s for the Regency Era. The Spencer jacket was named after a man's jacket but was styled for women. The dresses of this era were characterized by raised waistlines and narrower skirts that were influenced by the political upheaval in France. The jacket in this pattern has a close fitting fold-over round collar, princess lines in front and back, shoulder seams in back, a choice between leg of mutton sleeves or a long sleeve with gathers at the shoulder. The front has four buttons for closure and the back has an extension of three inverted pleats that open at back edge to form a ruffle. The pleat edge extends out from the side seam and curves around the back. The bodice is lined in the front with a partial lining in the back.

This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.

    Beautiful and versatile jacket

Such a lovely jacket and with quite good instructions. I made the simple sleeve to go over this designer's Regency dress, and it turned out beautifully. While it does require attention to detail, it is not so difficult that the average seamstress cannot complete it, I believe. I made it in raw silk, and just love it.
