Next Session Scheduled For 2020
What You Get When You Join The Pattern Academy: The Pattern Academy is our one-month training program that gives you in-depth training on how to create patterns from your original designs. The course was created to take Design Academy students to the next level and show them how to go from design to pattern making. Students get full access to a private Facebook group for conversations, assistance, and camaraderie.
Updated Course Info Added In 2017 - Now a fixed part of the program!
The course formal instruction ends at months end, but participants have access to course content after the class is completed so a "study-at-your-own-pace" learning experience is available. Through 12 unique lessons, homework assignments, and teaching videos, you get a wonderful education on the topic of pattern drafting for doll clothes design.
Feedback and support: Each week you can complete the coursework you"ll learn a new skill or perspective. With frequent feedback and encouragement from the Liberty Jane Clothing Team, you'll be challenged to create fantastic patterns.
Pattern Slopers: Class participants receive an expanded set of slopers for use as the basis for creating original patterns. Sloper set will include Upper Body, Pants, and Skirt. The slopers will be suitable for the specific doll you want to focus on - American Girl, Welliewishers, Ellowyne, Blythe, BFC Ink, Heart 4 Hearts, A Girl For All Time, and Kidz N Cats. You will have access to all the sizes we offer!
About The Curriculum: Delivered primarily through instructional video packed with in-depth information. Video teaching will show hands-on instruction for each part of the pattern creation process. We will give you the skills and know-how to turn the basic sloper into almost any design your heart desires. Here are just a few of the awesome techniques you'll learn: how to make a gathered sleeve, how to create a princess seamed bodice or dress, how to add style lines, how to draft collars, how to create yokes, and lots more!
Special Bonus - Pattern Selling For Profit Video Series: During the March session, we held two 2 hour-long workshops that walk you through the business opportunities related to selling your original doll clothes patterns on Pixie Faire. We are honored to partner with over 70 designers on Pixie Faire - and to have had nearly 2 million patterns downloaded by over 85,000 customers. You will get access to those two 1-hour webinars.
If you've ever wanted to sell doll clothes patterns for profit - then these videos will be incredibly valuable to you. During the video, we give you a solid overview of this industry, how Pixie Faire partners with designers, and how to take the next step to begin selling with us!
Cost: The program cost is $199.
Recommended Prerequisite: We feel it's crucial to fully understand the process of creating a good design plan before taking the next step into pattern creation, which is why we strongly suggest you take the Design Academy course before enrolling in the Pattern Academy. But this is just a recommendation, not a requirement.
Money Back Guarantee: We know you’ll love the program, but if you’re unhappy with it for any reason, we are happy to provide a 100% money back refund – no questions asked. So there is absolutely no reason not to try the program.
Pixie Points: Be sure to enroll in our Pixie Perks program to receive Pixie Points on these purchases. For every $100 you spend you get a $15 coupon.
Questions: We know you might have questions - we encourage you to read through the following FAQs and testimonials.
Q: Would this be appropriate for homeschool curriculum?
A: Yes, as long as the student has previously taken the Design Academy course.
Q: Is this based in Seattle, or is it done online?
A: It’s all completed online, so you can work in your jammies.
Q: Is this about creating patterns?
A: Yes - however - it is NOT about creating PDF documents that you can sell. It is ONLY focused on the pattern drafting process.
Q: Do I need any additional software or special computer skills?
A: Adobe Reader or Preview (MAC) for PDF downloads is recommended. Class is taught on a forum website so basic computer knowledge is recommended. If using a PC, please view the site in Chrome (IE seems to have some issues)
Q: Do the lessons come via webinar, or online course somehow?
A: Chapter will be delivered primarily via video. Videos are pre-recorded and accessible at any time.
Q: Do I have to be a good seamstress?
A: No, but you do need to be at least a beginner. Basic sewing skills are recommended, but the best part of the community environment is that we can all learn from each other. So if you need help, or are struggling with a certain sewing technique, there will be lots of people there to help you!
Q. What happens after I buy?
A. Toward the end of February, you will begin to receive instructions and details via email about the class. So, make sure you monitor the email account you use associated with your Pixie Faire account.

I think the Liberty Jane Pattern Academy is really great I think for anybody starting off their Doll Pattern Journey. Very Inspiring for me.
Everything -the lessons were taught so clearly I had no problem with any of the patterns. I learned a lot too and now I can make patterns for my “model” dolly . Thank you - you guys are great!
The title says it all. So much new and interesting. I would recommend this course to everyone who wants to learn about doll pattern making. It's very easy to understand. Thank you, Liberty Jane Team!
I’m still taking the course, but so far I love it. I am learning so much! Great videos and I like doing the work along with them. The only thing I would have loved to have a week or so before the class started is the list of supplies. For me it took a few days to pull them all together and by then the first class was about half over. It’s a minor thing but it would have helped me. I have to admit I didn’t believe I needed the design Academy class because my goal was just to adjust the AG patterns to fit my “Kinder” Gotz doll. I am finding I must eat those words because I go thru this Pattern Academy, knowing the design process would certainly help. So I’ll be doing it backwards and taking the Design Academy!!!
I found I knew more than I thought I did (yah!) but I certainly picked up some pointers and used some of my new knowledge helping my Grand daughter make a basic pattern for her skinny, skinny doll she had brought from China!
