Get in touch with your inner Laura as you sew up this charming 1870s prairie inspired dress, apron and bonnet ensemble. The dress features a gathered bodice with a yoke and waistband that button down the back. Finish the skirt with the wide ruffle for an old-fashioned prairie style, or leave the ruffle off and don an easy to make cloth flower for your modern prairie girl. The bonnet cinches in the back with a drawstring to achieve a perfect fit and the simple apron ties in the back and has two handy pockets, just the thing for a hard working Prairie girl. This easy to make pattern is a great choice for new sewists wanting to develop their sewing skills.

This is my first T&A pattern in color, and it is wonderful! It makes the detailed instructions even easier to understand than before: sewing great, detailed garments has never been so easy. I consider myself an intermediate sewist, and I taught myself how to sew using patterns like this one. Methods of constructions are detailed and explained step by step. As usual with T&A Little House patterns, you don't only get pattern pieces and instructions: you get a full history lesson with biographical elements, fashion history, and quotes from Laura Ingalls Wilder. For this reason, this would also make a beautiful gift for a sewist friend. The look of this pattern is a "classic" Prairie dress, with an iconic sunbonnet. So far I've sewn it for my AGAT Matilda with success. It is the perfect pattern to mix and match fabric, too, especially since the small amounts of fabric required will allow you to use fabric scraps (for a successfully thrifty Prairie look). I also enjoyed the suggestions to embellish and personalize the outfit, like the embroidery on the pocket, which you can make as simple or elaborate as you like. Thank you, Shari!
Another beautiful dress for your Laura Ingalls Wilder prairie doll. The Past dress includes a beautiful bonnet to keep the sun off your dollies face and a cute apron. The present dress is one of my favorite modern dresses. It is so dressy and the fabric flower is such a nice touch.
