18th Century Brunswick Jacket Multi-sized Pattern for Regular and Slim 18" Dolls

1 review   |

The Brunswick is one of several informal jackets popular in the later 18th century, derived from working class costumes but made up in fine fabrics.
The Brunswick comprises a hip-length jacket with a high neckline and hood, worn with a matching petticoat. Brunswicks are considered to be a travel garment of sorts, something fashionable, but practical.
Originating in France, the Brunswick was also popular in England and the United States.
Silk is the most common fabric used in surviving garments from the period, but many portraits look like taffeta or quilted satin, which were also popular fabrics for this garment.
This PDF sewing pattern includes photographic sewing instructions to make a lined Brunswick jacket and all pattern components come in two sizes:
~ Sized to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl® and
