First Dance 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

1 review   |

Every girl dreams of her first dance, and now your doll can enjoy the fun. The sweet and easy First Dance dress is designed to fit 18” dolls such as American Girl® and was inspired by the designer's granddaughters’ first Daddy-daughter dance.

This doll-sized version features a relaxed fit A-line dress in sleeveless or long-sleeved views with an optional belt and an oversized collar that pleats into a statement center front bow. The collar and cuffs can be made in contrasting solids, the sleeves can be made in the same fabric or in coordinating sheer fabrics, or eyelet to add interest, and the collar and cuffs may be trimmed with lace or rick rack for an extra pop of color. Wouldn’t it be fun to search a color wheel for combinations of three fabrics: one color for the dress and sleeves, one color for the collar and cuffs, and one pop of color for the rick rack?

This pattern is modeled on modern, Mattel brand American Girl® dolls with slimmer bodies, but should fit the older Pleasant Company dolls.
The version in blue is pictured on a doll with waist measurement of 10 ¾ .”
