Getty Villa Sundress 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

  |

Liberty Jane presents the Getty Villa Sundress sewing pattern for 18-inch dolls. Perfect for hot summer days and great for layering as we transition to fall!

Design details include: Sleeveless Bodice, high neckline, princess seams and front yoke design on bodice, open back detail with a hook and eye closure. The design is accented with dainty trim peeking out past the armscye edges. The flowing skirt hangs beautifully from the slightly curved empire waistline.

The design includes two main variations each with the flexibility to use the overlayed trim detailing.

  • View A: The armscyes are fully trimmed in this variation which requires the bodice to be sewn with exposed side seams. The skirt pictured has been sewn with a serged edge to allow for the most swing in the flow of the skirt.
  • View B: This variation includes trim along the top portion of the armscyes along just the yoke which allows for a fully enclosed set of seams on the dress bodice. The version shown has a single fold 1/4" hem.

The third example shows View A sewn without trim overlaying the bodice seams. This works best with a fabric choice that is semi-opaque as the sheer fabrics will reveal the seam allowances folded open.

The instructions are laid out to walk you through sewing both options. Each step is illustrated with a photograph to help you successfully make this detailed design!
