My biggest sewing organization challenge is keeping it clean and tidy especially when I am sewing all day long. I have purchased several items from Amazon Mini Stash and Store and regular size by Its Sew Emma ( come in different colors) and it holds my lint brushes, small scissors, seam ripper and they are all in one spot next to my sewing machine and serger. I also just purchases a WORX mini vacuum that uses 20V battery to help tidy up those threads and lint.

My biggest sewing organization challenge is the fact that I purchase top shelf fabrics and vintage and/or antique laces. Why would this be a problem, you may ask? Having purchased the most exquisite fabrics/trims I can afford, I am then reluctant to cut into them … because then I won’t have them anymore!.

My biggest sewing organization challenge is running out of room in the drawers I have set aside for certain types of fabric. I end up stuffing swimsuit fabric in the flannel drawer because the drawer for swimsuit fabric is already full. Then a lot of recent purchases end up in sacks, totally unorganized.

My biggest sewing room organizational problem is how to deal with more than 20 years of scraps. My second is keeping my sewing room organized; I have a tendency not to put things away as I work, and then when I’m overwhelmed, trying to put EVERYTHING away in one fell swoop. The third is I keep needing and buying more fabric and/or notions for new projects before older ones are finished.

Definitely, my biggest sewing challenge is having my fabric sorted so that I can find what I’m looking for!!! I find the perfect pattern, and just know I have the perfect fabric for it . . . somewhere. And then it takes forever going through tons of fabric and finding fabric for other projects and not the one I want to work on! Yikes!!

December 29, 2022

My biggest organizational challenge is not having enough storage room to store material and projects that I’m working on such as fabrics for doll clothes, fleece for blankets that I make as well, etc. Since I do a LOT of doll clothes for children & donate them. (I make a LOT of them using Pixie Faire.com which is extremely convenient. In addition, they are VERY STYLISH, easy to make with the detailed instructions, very versatile, well designed & a lot of attention to detail which the kids absolutely LOVE) that are down on their luck health wise like with cancer or some terminal illness or maybe they lost everything in a fire, etc. or maybe to bring joy & happiness if they are going through a rough time in life. So when I am working on projects in order to save time (at that moment), I’ll cut the pattern out & then lay the fabric on the ironing board or on my office cutting table area, etc. then quickly move on to the next project as time is quiet valuable when I’m trying to get the doll clothes cut, sewn, etc. so I can move on quickly. But by the end of the day, week, etc. I have quiet a pile of fabric in piles that become a sore eye. But my cat helps me out & he’ll get on the ironing board & push them all on the floor. Lol.

My biggest sewing organization challenge is that my sewing room doubles as an office. There are piles of fabric and craft supplies on every horizontal surface so it always looks really cluttered. My biggest organizational challenge is having too much stuff to organize. I have a roomful of fabric, notions and craft supplies and another room full of doll related things, dolls, clothing, patterns. My sewing area is my kitchen table and my storage for many other things is the hallway leading to my fabric room and doll room, making them unreachable unless I do a lot of work to get to them. So, anything I need at present is stacked and piled around my sewing area. It’s a mess!

My biggest organizational challenge is that I don’t have a sewing room. I could commandeer one of the upstairs bedrooms but that distances me from the rest of my housework and the family. So my sewing machine is on the dining room table, fabric upstairs, patterns and notions in the back room downstairs. It’s no fun running all over to get supplies and equipment together to do a project. Sometimes things stall while I look for all the pieces and parts. Thanks
