Easy Miniature Lamp for Dolls

Well, January is nearly over -- and we're rounding out our set of living room decor tutorials with this fun little lamp. It really is easy -- so grab an old thread spool, a pencil, some scrapbook paper, and let's get started!

You may have to try a couple different spools before you find one that fits the pencil -- this will be important later!

I wanted a striped lamp, so I started by masking them off and painting over the entire spool. Don't forget to paint the top of the spool, too.

Then, I wrapped twine around the spool for extra decoration. Hot glue is your friend with twine like this.

Lampshade time! Start by drawing two half-circles onto the back of your scrapbook paper. Then, draw a tab onto one edge and cut out the lampshade. Glue it together along the tabbed edge.

Cut out another strip of paper, and glue it to the top of the lampshade on the inside.

Run the pencil into the spool (you may need to sharpen it to get it to the right length) and glue it in place. Then, put a dot of hot glue onto the eraser end of the pencil, and glue the shade to the pencil.

As a finishing touch, glue another piece of twine on to the back of the lamp, to make a pretend cord. Fun, huh?

Have fun, and let us know in the comments if you make this!

Thanks guys!

For PixieFaire,

Melinda

I love this. I’m making it this weekend. I just found your site not too long ago. I have been downloading patterns to learn to sew clothes for the dolls.
