Your 18-inch doll will look adorable in this beautiful historical-style Day Dress with its abundance of lace, together with a pretty Mop Cap from Little Miss Muffett. Although not historically accurate, the Annabelle Day Dress is similar to those worn during the late 1700’s to early 1800’s.
The Dress, which has a fully lined Bodice and closes a Center Back with Hook & Loop tape, has a wide, shallow neckline edged with gathered lace and an optional central bow or rose to finish. The long bell-shaped puff sleeves have gathered lace inserts at the bicep and narrow lace which finishes the hem edge. The full gathered skirt is constructed in three sections (which are great for contrasting fabric if desired); the upper section has wide twin tucks to add interest; wide gathered lace is inserted into to the upper section seam while the lower section has lace inserted into the lower center section seam as well as a lace edged hem.
The lace edged Mop Cap is lined, has an elastic casing to keep the cap firmly on the head, and is finished with a small front bow.
This fairly easy intermediate pattern is designed to fit 18-inch soft-bodied dolls such as American Girl® and is available exclusively from Pixie Faire.
Suggested Fabrics: Quilters’ Cotton for the Mop Cap and Dress, Lightweight Cotton for the Bodice Lining and Muslin for the Long Sleeves.
Fabric Used for the Example Dresses: Quilters’ Cotton was used for the Mop Cap and Dress, Lightweight Cotton for the Bodice Lining and Muslin for the Long Sleeves. Nylon Lace oddments were used for the Dress edge trims.
