Create a sleeveless mini dress with round neckline and an optional bow or add statement ruffles at the shoulders with layers of gathered tulle or netting. The back closes with snaps or hook and loop tape.
The fabric is the star of the show in this simple design. Consider using fabrics with a little sparkle, velvety drama, or even a basic plaid cut on the bias for added interest. Sewing dressy materials may take a little more effort and know-how, but the effort is definitely worth it!

Recommended Fabrics: Light weight woven metallics, brocade, taffeta, sequin fabrics, cotton velveteen, novelty cottons and plaids for dress. Cotton broadcloth, lawn, or batiste for lining. Tulle or novelty netting for shoulder ruffles.
Supplies Needed:
- ⅓ yard fashion fabric
- ⅓ yard lining fabric
- Matching thread
- 4 snaps or 5 1/2” hook and loop tape
OPTIONAL ITEMS:
• 1/2 yard of 5/8" - 1" wide ribbon - for bow
• 1/4 yard tulle or netting - for shoulder ruffles
• Liquid Seam Sealant - to prevent ribbon fraying
Other supplies, as needed: tissue paper for difficult to handle fabrics, press cloth, ruler, sewing machine, scissors, pins, ruler, fabric marker, forceps (optional), denim or jeans sewing machine needle (if sewing sequin fabric), liquid seam sealant (for ribbon)
