The Secret Garden dress features tiny florals, delicate lace and classic vintage styling in a pattern designed especially for popular 18” dolls.
Designed with intermediate sewers in mind, it has a graceful drop-waist silhouette, where the bodice is softly gathered into the skirt which is accented with a sewn-in sash. The dress has two tiers of ruffles edged with lace trim creating a full, flouncy skirt. It closes in the back with hook-and-loop tape with buttons sewn on top for a finished look.
One of the highlights of this pattern is the lace-edged round collar, which becomes a beautiful focal point of the dress. Included with the pattern is the sweet floral embroidery design that adorns the collar—tiny blossoms and delicate stitching that give the dress a handcrafted, vintage feel. Machine embroidery can also be used (file not included).
Two sleeve options are offered. Choose classic short puff sleeves, gently gathered with elastic for a soft, feminine shape, or a long full sleeve that gently gathers into a soft binding - both perfectly balance the fullness of the skirt and the fanciful collar.

This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit popular 18" dolls such as those shown in the photos.
Recommended Fabrics: Lightweight cotton, cotton blend, silk, satin or lawn fabric recommended. Heavier cotton can be used for the collar.
Supplies Needed:
• 5/8 yard woven fabric (main dress)
• 1/4 yard woven fabric (collar)
• 1/4 yard lining fabric (bodice)
• 1/8 yard contrast fabric (sash, bow and cuffs)
• 1/4 yard woven fusible interfacing (collar, bodice, skirt)
Notions:
• 12” of 1/8” flat elastic, OR 24” round elastic
• Approximately 4 yards 1/2” to 3/4” lace trim - flat or lightly gathered (yardage depends on fullness desired)
• Thread
• Embroidery floss or machine embroidery thread
• 8” hook-and-loop tape and four 3/8” buttons
• Water Soluble pen or Friction marker for marking hand embroidery
