Your favorite doll will look adorable in this gorgeous smock-style top, by Little Miss Muffett. The detail is all in the lined yoke which has a soft stand up collar, button placket, and faux pocket flaps. The yoke back has a cute hanging loop. To add visual interest, the front and back both have curved inserts and to echo the yoke curves, the hems are curved at the sides with the back hem being a little longer than the front. The smock closes in front with hook and loop tape. Made from denim and soft draping fabric together with plenty of top-stitching, your doll will look great when wearing her smock with capris, long pants, leggings or skirts. This relatively easy pattern is designed to fit 18 – 20 inch soft-bodied dolls such as American Girl® and Australian Girl®.
Supplies Needed:
Fabric Used – Lightweight Denim and Twill was used for the Yoke, Front Placket, Sleeve Cuffs, Hanging Loop and Faux Pocket Flaps. Please note that using a heavier weight fabric will influence seam allowances and the overall fit. Chiffon, Georgette and Lightweight T-Shirt Knit was used for the Sleeves and Skirt. Quilters’ Cotton is not suitable for the skirt and sleeves. Quilters’ Cotton was used for the Yoke Lining only.
Fabric Requirements:
Smock Yoke : Lightweight Denim or similar - 13” x 28”
Yoke Lining : Quilters’ Cotton - 7” x 10”
Smock Sleeves & Skirt : Chiffon, Georgette, Muslin, Viscose, Lightweight Knits, etc. - 12” x 28”
Notions:
Hook & Loop Tape for Front Closure - 3/8” wide x 5 ½”
Buttons for Smock Front and Pocket Flaps - 7 x ¼” wide
Matching Thread, Marking Pen, Point Turner, general sewing supplies.
A ‘Universal Sewing Needle – 80/12’, a ‘Stretch Needle – 75/11’, a ‘Universal 40/80 Twin Needle’, a Walking Foot, a General Purpose Foot and ¼” Foot are used throughout the sewing process.
