This beautiful dress, by Liberty Jane, will have your doll ready to hit the Red Carpet or be part of the fashion scene with Tokyo Libby and her friends. The dress pattern designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl® includes two variations - The ruched bodice (featured in Blossom and Red Carpet Runway) and the simplified bodice shown left. Both variations feature a bubble skirt and lace underlay which create just the right statement to captivate her audience and make her feel special. This dress design has an invisible zipper in the back with hook and eye closures along the underlay but also includes instructions to finish the back opening with hook and loop tape.
It was featured in the Liberty Jane® Fall 2010 Tokyo Libby Collection as well as Red Carpet Runway which was sold in limited editions quantities in 2008-2009.
Special Occasion Variation - taffeta, satin and silk dupioni for the dress and poly, rayon, or silk linings for the lining. The underlay needs to be made using a stretch lace or stretch mesh to achieve the proper fit and look. For a more adventurous look, try layering a sheer organza over a solid fabric!
Casual Or Vintage inspired Everyday Dress - woven quilting cottons for both the dress and lining fabrics. If using the simplified bodice, the underlay can also be made from a basic knit or knit rib to look more like a tank top.
Have fun creating your beautiful Blossom dress!
This dress pattern is a great base for many modified styles. A few examples would be to swap the underlay to be an overlay, or sew the skirt to the bodice without creating the bubble, simply let it hang free from the lining along the hemline. The dress can also be made strapless without the underlay. Check out the examples we've collected from some of our customer's show and tell photos which highlight these options beautifully!

This pattern was a valuable addition to my collection, and it's probably the one I use the most! I love how versatile the pattern is- you can make it with so many different fabrics, with or without the bodice underlay, or even combine it with the skirt patterns from other dresses for a multitude of different looks.
Lovely pattern I liked that there are two options for the bodice
