Hi Everyone! Are you ready to delve deeper into the Trends of 2025? In this installment we'll be taking a closer look at the trends in denim. It's a core wardrobe staple year over year, sometimes styles carry over, sometimes styles re-appear, and sometimes new styles are introduced. In 2025 we're seeing two significant styles coming to the forefront - The Barrel Jean and the Wide Leg Jean. I'm excited to go deeper into these styles and explore incorporating them into your modern doll's wardrobe! If you missed Part One, be sure to refer back to the post and video, it really lays the groundwork for each of these following sections.Let's kick things off with our options for creating Jeans for your dolls. At Liberty Jane, we have a growing assortment of styles:The classic Jeans Bundle (Boot cut and Skinny styles),High Waisted Jeans with a straight leg80's Style Pleated and Fold Over Jeans (Pattern Hack Post)The Barrel Jeans (New for 2025)The Wide Leg Jeans (New for 2025 and sure to become a wardrobe staple!) With so many great choices, you're sure to find something to make the perfect pair of jeans for 2025! With that said, now let's talk about fabric choices and tips and tricks for sewing success. In most cases, I'd recommend a lightweight stretch denim. The ones I look for have around 5% spandex and are usually a 7oz weight. They used to be easier to find, but seems o be harder and harder to track down. Another alternative, that I really love is a lightweight corduroy. You can see that used in the Wide Leg Jeans. Finally, some premium quilting cottons work well too. You an find Chambrays in a variety of weights, from Tilda Quilting cottons to shirt weight (4oz) blends that have a bit more drape to them.If you're looking for corduroy, you're in luck! We have a limited supply of featherwale and other weight cords available to purchase in 1/3 yard cuts. Find these in the Pixie Cuts section - but be warned, we have limited stock right now, so they might sell out quickly! Corduroy is a lovely fabric but also has its challenges. Here's a video explaining our tips and tricks for Sewing With Corduroy. For more on sewing with corduroy, check out the full collection of Sewing With Cinnamon Blog posts and videos. Now Let's talk about the details like pockets! One of my favorite details in all the jeans patterns is the pockets, both front and back pockets. Stitching the edges of pockets, placing them evenly, and embellishing them with tiny details is what make ordinary jeans extraordinary! Follow along in this video to see my tips for sewing front and back pockets on jeans:But wait! What about the embellished back pocket? There are so many ideas and so many ways to achieve a stand-out look!Stitching a design on a standard sewing machine. Twin needle edging, automated decorative stitch designs, manual stitching on a drawn design, and more!Machine Embroidered pre-designed back pockets! Love this! You an see this featured on the Barrel Jeans. If you have an embroidery machine, this is a super fun option! If you don't, do what I did... I gave my mom a fat quarter sized piece of the denim I had for my jeans and asked her to stitch out a few different sets of pockets. I saved it in my fabric stash (with the rest of the fabric yardage) to use for a future project! Hand Embroidered details! This one is a little time consuming, but the results are fabulous! You can see an example of this on the white denim, and featured in the Working With Embellishment tutorial.Perfectly aligned topstitching can be a challenge. I've attempted many different things to perfect this sewing technique. Watch this video to see my tips for topstitching denim:
