This loosely fitted top features a lightly gathered square neckline with butterfly sleeves accented by an inset ruffle inside front and back princess seams. The back is low-cut with a button closure and a big bow tie for fun.
Mix and match your fabrics or use eyelet lace for the sleeves and ruffles. This top is versatile and fun to make for all of your 18” dolls.

Recommended Fabrics: Cotton, poly-cotton, rayon, seersucker, challis, cotton gauze, and similar woven fabrics in ginghams, plaids, polka dots, stripes, and coordinating small-scale prints. Also stunning in tie-dyes, eyelet, chambray, and border prints. Not suited for knits or heavy-weight fabrics such as twill or denim.
Supplies Needed:
FABRIC:
• 3/8 yd main fabric with nap for all views
• For View B, 1/8 yd contrasting fabric
• 1/8 yd (or scrap) of woven fusible interfacing such as Pellon SF 101 or similar product
• Facing-All Views (it’s fun to use contrasting fabric for facing!) ¼ yd fabric
Notions:
• Two 3/8” or ½” buttons
• High quality matching polyester or rayon thread, depending on fabric choice
• New, sharp size 11/12 needle
• For View A, 1/8 yd eyelet fabric or 26” of 1 ½” wide eyelet lace
Optional Tools:
• Turning tool (or a wooden chopstick) or
• Hemostats
• Pinking shears for trimming tiny seam allowances
