The perfect addition to finish off your Legendary Dragon Guardian outfit. I love to add crafting to my sewing. This pattern was so fun! The hat was so easy to do, building up layers of paper on top of a cereal box base for the perfect hat. Shade it with layers of brown and yellow paints for the perfect look. The boots were easy to make. I used a suede material for the base with some marine vinyl for the trim. They fit my doll really well. The cloak is a really unique shape and is unlike any other cloak I’ve made before. Be sure to use a soft floaty fabric so it drapes well.
Most fun I've had crafting in ages! I haven't done paper mâché for decades. It is just amazing how this pattern guides you through the construction of the woven hat. I used brown paper grocery bags for the paper strips which made painting easier. I used multiple colors of craft paints to paint the hat, yellows and browns. It is very sturdy, and fits well. I substituted blue rickrack for the cape collar trim, and some gold metallic trim around the neck rather than embroidering these elements on the cape. I used linen on the cape and found a dramatic pillow sham which I up cycled for the cape lining. Love how this coordinates with the Legendary Dragon Guardian costume (sold separately). Be sure to get both! Boots fit well, and were easy to construct with the instructions given. I used a soft, faux leather-look fabric for the boots. I applied Steam-A-Seam to the wrong side of the contrast trim fabric before I cut the pieces. When it was time to attach the contrast, I just pressed the strips in place. I used Alene's Turbo Tacky Glue to apply the soles.
