This Edwardian Era bicycle skirt is based off a design that became popular as young ladies began to embrace more active lifestyles at the turn of the 19th century.
The calf length split skirt made it a practical design for a wide variety of sporting activities such as bicycling, horseback riding, and hiking and a button down front flap quickly converts it to a more socially acceptable “proper skirt” between activities. The back of the skirt features a double nested pleat at the back waistline which conceals the split in the back and the patch pockets on either side make for a handy place to store any essential items.
