For the most part it was easy to construct. I had to read and baste sections more than once to understand (could be my not concentrating) the process. Overall the pattern had good directions.
This was a great pattern for me to use as my first project in the “Sewing With Specialty Fabrics “ online class purchased from this site. I used a faux dupioni silk. The directions are very clear and the designer went out of her way to be informative. The use of a double sleeve hem, as questioned by a previous reviewer, is used to provide a clean finish and prevent the fabric edges from fraying and showing at the bottom of the sleeve. A fabric such as dupioni would absolutely need this hem treatment, as would many other fabrics. The facing and linings also are necessary to finish the neck and back edge and hold the waist seam in its proper place. They also give needed structure to the bodice. Don’t hesitate to purchase this pattern, it is a very easy sew with great results. I thought the sleeves were particularly beautiful and the lines were great. It would make a very nice wedding dress because it would highlight a special fabric well. Next time I find some spectacular wedding dress fabric, I will use this pattern.
I used this pattern for my first sewing experience in the online course, “Sewing With Specialty Fabrics,” purchased from pixie faire. I used a Faux silk dupioni. I love how the dress turned out; it was easy to sew yet looks very elegant in its simplicity. I added a trim to help highlight the beautiful sleeve gathers and the lines of the dress.
