Your doll will look gorgeous in this beautiful Shepherdess ensemble, by Little Miss Muffett. The outfit has been kept as simple as possible and is therefore not historically accurate; however, it still has the same elegance inspired by fashions of the 1700s, particularly the latter part of the century relating to Marie Antoinette.
The Bodice, which closes at the back with Hook & Loop tape, has a beautiful Basque waistline and pretty lace neckline. Ten tiny satin bows are distributed evenly down the front Princess Seams. The gathered 3/4 length Sleeves have deep lace ruffles, while the hems are trimmed with satin ribbon.
The Skirt, which incorporates a gathered circular Petticoat, is made up of 14 alternating gathered gores with a quilting option. Seven satin bows finished with pearl beads decorate the Skirt Centre Front panel. The waistband closes with a snap fastener. The Petticoat, which acts as a loose lining, is decorated with lace and ribbon trim towards the hem edge.
The French Panties have an elasticized waist, ribbon and lace on the hem edges and roses and bows as trim on leg side and waist.
The Stockings, made from stretch mesh, sit just above the knee and have beautiful lace and ribbon trimmed elasticized garters.
The Bergére Hat is based on the wide-brimmed, shallow crowned hats of the day. The hat, which is lined, has ribbon ties, a beaded hat band and a pretty soft tulle veil at Centre Back, can be decorated as desired.
This relatively easy pattern is designed to fit 18” soft-bodied dolls such as American Girl®.
Fabric Used: I used Quilters’ Cotton for the Bodice, Skirt and Hat Lining, and Lightweight Cotton for the French Panties. The Stockings were made using Stretch Mesh and the Hat made from Medium Weight Cotton. Stretch Lace was used for the Sleeve Ruffles. The Hat was decorated with Silk Roses and Leaves, Satin Ribbon, Feathers, Beads and Soft Tulle.
