In the late 17th and early 18th centuries a coat was a relatively straight loose...
This was a great pattern to sew with. All pieces fit precisely together. It was fun to sew and turned out super cute
I made this pattern in both the 18" doll size and the 14.5 inch size. I am a very experienced seamstress and had no problems with either, The patterns fit my granddaughters American Girl dolls perfectly with no adjustments needed. I opted to use hook & loop tape and buttons for the jacket rather than snaps. Because of the double breasted styling of the jacket I used a full width 5/8" piece rather than cutting it in half as I normally use for outfits. I choose to use pink and white checks for fun and added some machine embroidery to the hat band.
I made all of the pieces and very happy with the result. It was easy to put together, and the directions were great. Everything fit together well. I really liked that she explained what each piece is called and explained what it's for (i.e. why the pants are checkered). It's obvious she did her research to make sure the uniform is accurate.
Myt gtranddaughter loved it. It was easy to make.
I bought this pattern so I could make some outfits for my daughters birthday. Her very first AG Doll will be her main gift. This pattern was a breeze to work with. Instructions were clear. Following the pattern everything was a perfect fit. Including the hat. I didn’t need to make any adjustments. I did opt for Valero closure on the jacket for my daughters sake. I wish I could have found actual checked fabric for the pants, but what I chose was close enough. It turned out adorable! My daughter will love it.
