Your dashing prince will look his best for any royal occasion in this Renaissance costume, from Stitchery by Snowflake. The doublet buttons close in front and have capped sleeves. The round hose, aka “slops,” wide legged pants first worn by sailors, snap closed in the back. For more formal events, your prince may wear “paned” sleeves with “pansied slops,” more commonly called “pumpkin pants.” These panels of fabric, first worn by the Germans, added details that only the wealthy could afford. Tie the panes together at intervals with fancy buttons for a “slash and puff” look favored by King Henry VIII.

I bought this pattern to dress a bear for a friend who is a Shakespeare scholar. I was thrilled with the results.
With all of the girl's Tudor patterns available, this was the perfect boy's coordinating outfit. I made the plain version, but used a more intricate design on the fabric. It created a very rich looking outfit from a relatively easy pattern. Although listed as a "Confident Beginner" pattern, I think I would bump this pattern up to "Intermediate", but only because of the precision needed. The instructions themselves are very clear to understand. And the pattern provides details which eliminate gaps in the front closure, along with a really nice front closure design. And of course, you'll love the sleeve caps.
