Lilli Sailor Cap

I have made the hat twice. I made it once from stretch denim which works very well as long as the head band and cap portion is cut to take advantage of the stretch going around the perimeter of the head. I also lined the cap with calico. It is very cute. The second time I cut it from lightweight non stretch denim on the bias. This also worked well. Also lined this cap with calico. The only trick is that the final seam for the headband lining needs to be hand sewn on the inside of the cap to prevent wrinkling.

Nicely done.

I just finished making the sailor cap. I happened to have all of the materials on hand (navy blue french terry), but if you didn't have the stabilizer for the brim you could just use two layers of craft interfacing. I like how it went together quickly, and it looks great on Kanani.
