Irish Kinsale Cloak 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

6   |

The cloak is one of the most enduring of outer garments throughout history. The use of scarlet cloth for hooded cloaks in the 18th century was so popular in Britain and and it's American colonies that they became considered a traditional British garment for both men and women during this time. While visiting the countryside in Oxfordshire in 1750, Madame du Bocage noted: 'People of this class have their houses well furnished, are well-dressed and eat well; the poorest country girls drink tea, have bodices of chintz, straw hats on the heads and scarlet cloaks upon their shoulders.

The Kinsale Cloak is a traditional Irish cloak. This PDF Pattern features a drawstring hood that provides ample room for the taller hairstyles that were popular in the late 18th century.

The pattern is sized to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl® and Other Similarly Sized Dolls.

Irish Kinsale Cloak

Love this pattern sews up quick and easy, I made an invisibility cloak just cut it longer. My great niece and I are so into Harry Potter.

I combined this cloak with the short gown pattern from the same designer for a complete wardrobe. Very easy pattern and beautiful results. I made a second, unlined version of the cloak without the hood (but with the collar) and that came out beautifully as well. Now my daughter's doll has a "winter cloak" and and "spring cloak". Thank you!

The cloak turned out beautiful.

The cloak turned out beautiful. I added some length to the cloak so as to cover rest of gown. My God Daughter loved the cloak and waiting for the gown to be finished. I enjoy the look on her face when she see's the completed outfit! Thanks for all the great patterns you design!
