Sew a Mermaid costume for your 18" doll! The pattern includes two different options for finishing off the waistline of the tail, plain or with panniers. The panniers can be done in fabric or sheer fabric like organza. So whether you create a princess mermaid or a “Merboy” there is an option for you!
The tail fin lies forward and has batting in the top for shape but only fabric under the doll's feet so that she can easily stand. Enough room is in the fin for the doll's feet, so the doll can also sit with her tail on.
Included is a rounded and lined bikini top. The back of the top is completed with covered elastic for easy dressing.
The PDF pattern is designed for use with woven fabric but stretch fabric can also be used. Play with color and texture for different effects!
This mermaid costume also looks adorable on Disney Animator dolls! Check out the pattern here.
Recommended Fabrics: Light to medium weight woven fabrics - seer sucker, cotton, quilter’s cotton and satin. • Stretch fabrics can also be used – Lycra or shiny dance fabrics. It was fun! It was awesome! I made two mermaid costumes. The difficulty I had was that the material was so slippery that some of it I had to sew by hand...which was ok but took time. The pattern itself was perfect!! And easy to follow! Thank you I would post a picture here but I don't know how. I used some sequins on the tail part...it looked awesome and my granddaughters love them!
The mermaid's tail and bikini top pattern is well designed and documented. So it was easy to put together and looks very cute.
Super easy - made up beautifully by my 9 year old granddaughter.
This pattern turned out really good and fit the dolls well. I like these patterns a lot. I would recommend this to others to buy. These patterns explain how to use them well.
