The Dora dress, by Genniewren Designs, has a hint of “Euro” styling with its mix of plain or print fabrics and optional ruffles. It’s the perfect choice for spring, summer or fall depending on the fabrics you use.
This sleeveless dress has a lined, square necked bodice. The bodice can be edged with rick rack or piping if required, and full instructions are included in the pattern. The dress fastens at the center back bodice with either snaps or hook and loop fastener.
The full, gathered skirt is created from eleven gored panels and can be edged with a topstitched ruffle, eyelet trim or simply hemmed.
The optional apron adds an extra touch of Euro country-style cuteness and can be edged with trim or finished with a narrow hem. It is large enough for a machine embroidery design if desired.
Whichever view you choose, the full gored skirt definitely has the “twirl” factor. Perfect for school, for parties or for picnics, your doll will love the Dora Euro-style dress and want all the variations.
What’s even better is your girl can have a dress that matches dolly’s as this pattern is also available in girl sizes 1-16.
This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 14-15" dolls such as WellieWishers™, Ruby Red Fashion Friends™, Hearts For Hearts Girls®, and Melissa & Doug Mine To Love™ dolls.

Recommended Fabrics: The Dora Dress pattern is designed for lightweight woven fabrics with a soft drape, e.g. cotton broadcloth, shirting fabrics, poplin, lawn, batiste, gingham, seersucker, quilter’s cottons, chambray or cotton blends (e.g. polycotton).
- Both views: Two pieces of fabric 6” x 22” for the skirt, Two pieces of fabric 4” x 11”, one for the bodice and one for the bodice lining;
PLUS for View A only: One piece of fabric 22” x 5” for the skirt ruffle; and one piece of fabric 5” x 6” for the optional apron.
If you prefer each panel of the skirt can be cut from a different fabric, in which case you will need 9 pieces of fabric 6” x 4”, plus one piece of fabric 6”x 6” for the two center back panels.
- 3” of hook and loop fastener (1.5” hook side and 1.5” loop side). Anti-Snag hook and loop tape or Ultra Thin hook and loop tape is recommended as either type is less damaging to doll’s hair than the separate hook and loop tapes.
Two snaps for the back bodice closure.

The Cables and Lace dress pattern, by Genniewren Designs, includes a dress, and a shorter version...
Cute pattern with panels for whatever theme you pick. I chose Scotty dogs and black/white checks. Added an appliquéd Scotty on front bodice. Also added a knitted sweater and beret for those colder days. :) Pattern would be easier to follow with fewer pages of instructions to try to keep in order. That’s true of most all the patterns here.
My granddaughter asked for a Packer dress for her doll. So I had to give it a try. This pattern worked up beautifully, and it was a hit. Because I was short on time (a last minute Christmas gift request) I skipped the piping. The next one will have piping. The logo on the front was from an old shirt of my hubbies.
My granddaughter asked for a Green Bay Packer dress for her Wellie Wisher Doll. So I had to get creative. I couldn't let a budding Green Bay Packer Fan down! So I used this wonderful pattern and it went together quickly. I did leave off the piping. The next time I make this dress I will put the piping on. With or without piping it is an adorable dress.
This is a great pattern - lots of wonderful tips about how to work the details in such a small scale, and lots of options and ideas for embellishments. I used three different quilting cottons for the skirt, and a lightweight knit for the bodice and lining, and it came together very easily and looks polished and professional. I will definitely make this again...and will have to go get the AG size, too!
