Mae is a short sleeved hooded pullover with an allover lace pattern on front and back, a deep v-neckline and garter stitch edgings. There are decorative buttons at hip. Sweater is knit flat in two pieces from the bottom-up, then seamed along side edges before picking up stitches for the sleeves and hood. Sleeves are worked in the round on DPN's, the hood is knit flat then seamed at top edge with a three needle bind-off. Pattern includes schematic. This PDF pattern is designed to fit the 18" American Girl or similar dolls with an 11" chest circumference.
Supplies Needed: Yarn:
- 1 ball of Knit Picks Comfy Fingering – 75% Pima cotton, 25% Acrylic; Fingering weight (218 yards per 50 gram ball). Color B992, Hollyberry
OR
- 2 balls of Drops Baby Merino – 100% Merino extra fine wool superwash; Fingering weight (191 yards per 50 gram ball). Color 04, Yellow.
Or suitable substitute yarn.
Needles:
- 1 pair of straight needles and 1 set of DPN's in size US 2 (3.00mm) **Or size required to obtain gauge.**
Notions:
- 2 locking stitch markers or safety pins
- Darning needle for sewing in ends
- 3 buttons, 1/4” in size
- 2 stitch holders or scrap yarn
Gauge:
- 28.5 sts & 40 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch.
- 27.5 sts & 56 rows = 4” in garter stitch.
- 28 sts & 43 rows = 4” in lace pattern, un-stretched.
Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate - requires knowledge of basic knit stitches, yarn overs, knitting pieces flat and seaming them, picking up stitches, knitting in the round on DPN's, decreasing, increasing and joining two pieces together with a three needle bind-off.
