Very cute jacket for your doll!

The jacket was worth all the work that was involved in making it. It was a little challenging when making the first one (being I used thicker faux leather and jumped ahead of the instructions), but after I followed the steps (in order) everything made a lot more sense. Very pleased with the outcome.

Great fit, zipper instructions need fleshing out - perhaps a video is in order

If I could give this pattern two different ratings, then I would. I'd give it a five for design and fit. It looks absolutely fabulous on. As far as instructions go, I must admit to being very frustrated. I'd give that a lower score. So I'm splitting the difference at three. I acquired this pattern years ago and finally felt competent and confident enough as a sewist to tackle it. I modified the sleeves and did not do the the belt so I will not be speaking to those parts of the instructions. The zipper instructions were very hard to follow. One reason for this is that the pictures make it hard to see what you are supposed to do. Perhaps sewing a different color zipper than the fabric and using contrasting thread would be helpful for instructional purposes. Everything was blending together. Also, the instructions say to line the zipper up to a dot at the top. In reality, you are not supposed to actually line the zipper up there. It just means that the zipper is supposed to be placed at approximately the same height as that dot but much further to the right, nearer the end of the pattern piece. A marking for exactly where the zipper should go would be helpful. Another reason for the difficulty is that a dot is referenced for center front right that does not actually exist at the bottom of the pattern. That needs to be added to this pattern. Lastly, after attaching the zipper on the right side, it is mentioned that the left side of the zipper should match up to the dot on the left. When I did that, my waistband seams didn't match. More emphasis should be placed on the zipper being placed in such a way that both sides of the waistband match. I was only able to get past my frustration through the help of a dear sewing friend who had already worked out the kinks of the pattern. I was literally sending her pictures of each step as I sewed the zipper on. It shouldn't have to be that way! I'm so glad for her help and so glad that I waited to sew this jacket until I felt comfortable in my ability level. That way I didn't second guess whether it was me or the pattern. I hope these notes help someone. Also, I think doing a video to show the zipper installation would be highly recommended.

Fun jacket

I recently completed this jacket after having the pattern on hand for quite awhile. I am enrolled in the classes that Cinnamon produces and I found it very helpful. This jacket has 45 pieces a nd is not for the beginner. I enjoyed the process and the jacket turned out well. Making sure your 1/4" seams are accurate is very important.

Motorcycle Jacket 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

I am not finished with the jacket yet but I think the sleeve openings and the sleeves could be bigger. You have to tug at it to get it on the doll. Have not done the lining yet but I am worried. Other that that, It looks really cool.
