Regal Maiden 18" Doll Clothes

6 reviews   |

This medieval and tudor styled princess dress from Fashioned by Rebecca is designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl®. The PDF pattern includes instructions and pattern pieces for a bodice and overskirt. Bring your storybook characters to life with this beautiful design! There are two different views to help you accomplish the style you want--whether it be a princess, Rapunzel, or a more historical look.

Bonus: included is a hoop skirt to go under the skirt--it is meant for View A only (View B is too short) but can be adjusted to fit View B. It also works with the Fashioned By Rebecca Colonial Elegance PDF dress pattern!

The bodice closes in the back with snaps, the skirt closes at the waistband with a snap. The hoop skirt has an elastic waist.

Regal Maiden 18 inch doll clothes

Easy to follow pattern. Turned out beautifully. I did change the skirt to match a request made by my customer. She was super excited with the results.

Regal Maiden

This pattern is awesome! The hoop skirt was easier than I thought it would be and adds the finishing touch to this gown. I really liked the two piece outfit. I love mixing tops & skirts with Colonial Elegance pattern. Using ribbon loops makes the lace front much easier than eyelets and looks just as good!

runs small

I am in the process of making the "snow white" outfit and discovered the pattern runs small as with many of the patterns of the day. I am guessing the newer American Girl dolls are thinner- I am dressing a My Generation and it was still small. Very glad I measured first.

Fit for a Princess!

This is a wonderful pattern! I made view B, in the colors of a certain long-haired princess. Looking through the step by step instructions you can see how simple it is to put together - the results look more complicated. If you are using a silky material (satin, etc), I would suggest interfacing the fabric piece for the eyelets. It helped keep the fabric from slipping when applying the eyelets. Also, do a test run on applying the eyelets on a scrap of material. Everything else when together easily and quickly. I did add a quarter inch to the side seam of the bodice and underarm seam in order to accommodate a french seam. (I used a pink netting for the lower sleeve and since I don't have a serger, I needed a clean finish.) Additionally, pressing seams is not may favorite step in any pattern (I sometime skip it), but it truly is needed to give this pattern a crisp and professional look. This is part of a birthday gift for a niece and my kids are already asking when I can make one for them (and they don't even have AG dolls yet!) I appreciated the additional hoop skirt pattern, but decided to skip it for this project, as it's going to a to-be-4 year old and I don't think she will use it. I would make it for an older child or if I used fabrics that needed the support. I also loved that this has a snap closure (I find hook and loop, i.e. velcro, sticks to other fabrics, doll hair, other toys.) I will definitely make this pattern again in various combinations!
