The Sailorette design is a dolled up version of the classic Sailor Suit. This pattern includes options for a short sleeved bodice, sleeveless bodice, and two skirt lengths to achieve the look you want. The short skirt falls just above the knees while the longer skirt is mid-calf length. The bodice is lined and fastens in the back with hook and loop. I am in the process of resizing this pattern for a 13" Little Darling. I think I can make enough adjustments to make will work! I really lke the dress.
Pattern is absolutely gorgeous! Went together very easily and just loved the little hat! I want to make another in a different color very soon.
This is the second pattern I've made from My Angie Girl and I loved making them both. I liked the Sailorette dress so much that I've made four! It went together beautifully and turned out exactly like the photos. I absolutely recommend it. In the photo, the navy dress was altered in the bodice only to fit a Gotz Happy Kidz doll. 1/4 inch was taken from each side of the back and then an additional inch (1/2 " front and back) at each side seam for a total of 2.5 inches at her waist. The collar was adjusted to fit the narrower back, but the shoulders, sleeves and rest of the dress are directly from the pattern. In the photo this dress is worn by 4 different dolls: Gotz Happy Kidz from Germany, Bonnie & Pearl from the U.K. (the redhead), Maplelea from Canada and of course an American Girl from the USA. The pattern fits them all beautifully with no modifications.
I'm a beginner, but I wanted to try to make a sailor style dress out of cute anchor fabric I bought. It was definitely above my skill level, but not so much so that I couldn't still put it together. I added a scarf instead of the bow, but otherwise entirely followed the pattern and instructions.
