Wrap-Front Regency Dress 18" Doll Clothes

  |

Popular early in the Regency period, the wrap-front style was extremely versatile and was used for everyday wear as well as formal occasions. This PDF pattern by Thimbles and Acorns includes instructions for a wrap-front dress that can be made up in several variations as well as a BONUS Simple Regency.

Both dresses feature extra long bias-cut sleeves. These sleeves are designed to be scrunched up and hang slightly over the hand for casual ruched effect. A narrow band that snaps at the wrist helps to keep the sleeves in place. The wrap-front dress can be made up with a flounced or ruffled collar or can be left collarless. For dresses without a collar, decorative tiebacks can be used to give the neckline more shape. The Wrap-Front dress can be made in different lengths with our without sleeves. A shortened sleeveless variation makes a sweet modern sundress or an elegant overdress that can be worn over the Simpler Regency dress. The wrap-front dress fastens with ties under at each side. The Simple Regency Dress has a square neckline with a little fullness gathered into the center front waistline of the bodice and the one piece skirting is finished with two rows of tucks. The dress fastens in the back with two buttons, but hook-and-loop tape or snaps can be used if preferred.
