Your doll will get plenty of attention wearing this sleek and sophisticated swimsuit we’re calling the Peppermint Twist. The unique twist and halter neck creates an elegant silhouette that is complimentary on the 18-inch doll. Add the simple sarong wrap, choosing from 4 lengths, and go from a sassy-short daytime look to a long-classy version for evening. The swimsuit uses a swim/lingerie hook or snap closure at the neck and a small amount of fold over elastic or ¼” elastic at the low back. The twist is perfect for solid colored fabrics with a pop of color added at the wrap skirt. Or experiment with just the right combination of print fabrics that you love. Quality swim fabrics will work best for this suit with light and airy fabrics for the sarong wrap. This PDF pattern is for intermediate sewing skills.
Recommended Fabrics: Swimsuit: 4-way stretch, such as swim fabrics with, spandex, lycra and/or nylon Sarong Wrap:polyester, chiffon, stretch mesh (fabrics that drape and have only a slight stretch) If using stretchy swim fabric, some adjustments will be required.Supplies Needed:

What a fun swimsuit! I love the unique twist in the front of this swimsuit, and while it was challenging the first time, watching the video link of just the “twist” step was a big help. Another great thing about this swimsuit is how easy it is to put on a doll … some swimsuits are complicated, especially when they use foldover elastic straps, but this one is one of the easiest I’ve found. (I may try a small square of Velcro for the neck closure next time - I’m not a big fan of bra style hooks on doll swimsuits, as they can be hard to hook together for little hands.). The cute little sarong cover up skirt is a great bonus, and I have a couple more swimsuits that might need a coverup, too!
This is relatively easy to do if a bit fiddly. The instructions are clear and concise and the video really helps to understand how to get the twist. I watched it a couple of times and then stopped and started it as I "twisted" . The pictures were also helpful especially when you can zoom in to get a closer look. This took a little more time than other suits I have made, but well worth the effort. I already have another one cut out and look forward to making a couple more. I am impressed with the style of this pattern, it looks great on the doll.
At first I struggled with the twist looking at the pattern. I then watched the video and it completely made sense on how to make the twist. Made numerous suits after that. Super cute and stylish and my daughter loves it!!
This looks like a real bathing suit that I would buy. I will continue making more. Can't say enough about it!
