This dress pattern is reminiscent of the 1940’s with a faux wrap front and waistband, puff sleeves with an inverted pleat at the sleeve opening and pleats in front and back of skirt. Included are two styles for the sleeve; one with a larger inverted pleat and one with a smaller less puffy pleat or you may choose to make the sleeveless version. The skirt has two inverted box pleats in front and two in the back. There are two options of the length for the skirt included in the pattern. This dress can be made with cotton or cotton blends. There are many ways to embellish this pattern. The way I have chosen to embellish the edges is with piping which is demonstrated in the pattern instructions. You may also choose to use a pre-gathered lace to edge the neckline, sleeve edges and edge of the waistline as per personal preference. Instructions are included for the lace version as well. Another option is to use ricrac along the neckline and sleeve edges and along the waistband. As a personal preference, a bow or other kind of embellishment such as an applique or ribbon flower can be applied along the waistband at the juncture of the bodice to the waistband. There are lots of options for having fun with this pattern. Included in this pattern are options for finishing with a zipper or with hook and loop tape.
