I have a hard time finding a variety of fabric. Our town is not very big, and the only source for fabric we have here is the local Walmart. They drastically downsized their fabric department several years ago, and now all they have is a few fat quarters, so there’s not a lot to choose from.

I have a hard time finding anything in my studio right now. The tool I lose most often and have to replace is a thin, flat metal two-hole bodkin for threading ribbon and elastic. I’ve been know to cut off and sand the tip of a plastic yarn needle if I want to put elastic cord in the sleeve hem of a 6" doll dress and need something very short. I’ve also made a min-bodkin from a paper clip. As for small prints, check the quilt shops and buy them when you see them. You can put your doll face down on a copier and make a full-size paper doll to fold up and carry in your purse to check for scale. For teeny buttons, I go to abctextiles_com on eBay for 4-6mm, 2 hole buttons. At one time they also had tiny shank buttons. Found a great method for even button placement without measuring.
Mini-Magic Inc. (https://www.mini-magic.com) has been a great source for buckles and tiny trims over the years.
Home Sew had a wonderful tiny angel lace, but they discontinued it. Wish they’d bring it back. I was able to request baby ricrack from them that wasn’t listed in the catalog. Call customer service by phone—-they’re great! 0: )

“I have a hard time finding tiny zippers and buckles for the 18" dolls anywhere. I have looked online but only find 6-7" zippers and the last time I purchased buckles online they ended up being chintzy and a bit to large for my taste. I make doll clothes with quality material, I certainly wouldn’t want to use cheap looking buckles with the outfit. UGH! With COVID I find I prefer not to have to go into stores to shop around so I have to rely purchasing online which isn’t very satisfying lately.

“I have a hard time finding fabrics with really small prints."
I have a hard time finding variety in trims and ribbon in the smaller sizes.
I have a hard time finding elastic this year.
I have a hard time finding soft velcro.
I purchase a doll pattern based on its design and presentation and I want to replicate the pattern with my material, but I become frustrated when I try to source the fastener listed in the project list such as small zippers, cute buttons, fancy small lace, and the buckles for overalls/or shoes. Having these items complete the project as seen on the pattern. I was wondering if the designers could include the source of their fasteners within the project supply list, eg. the 1/2 inch buckles are sourced at xxx.com and the thin hook and loop fastener is sourced at xyz.com, or I found this item at Joann or Walmart. I would greatly appreciate this.

I have a hard time finding doll-sized hardware for details on clothing and purses.
I have a hard time finding thin velcro/hook-and-loop closure for doll clothes and usually wind up having to cut thicker velcro in half. I also have a hard time finding decorative buttons in a small enough size to be used for doll clothes. Usually super-small buttons are just plain circles in solid colors.
So glad to find out about Home Sew. It seems there is always something I want/need for the doll clothes I make. Home Sew sounds like my answer.
