This pattern bundle, by Genniewren Designs, contains three patterns that are required for Male Highland Dress or Highland Dance uniforms: The Prince Charlie Jacket and Vest, The Highland Dress Shirt, and The Highland Accessories pattern.
All the patterns are also available separately. Please click on the links above to find more detailed information about each of the included patterns, and see the listing image for all of the individual and bundled Highland patterns available.
Recommended Fabrics: JACKET AND VEST This pattern is designed for woven fabrics only. For the jacket and vest medium weight woolen or linen fabrics are recommended, approximately 190-300 gsm (a similar weight to soft denim jeans). Lightweight silk or acetate lining fabric is recommended for lining the jacket and vest. HIGHLAND ACCESSORIES For the plaid you will need miniature tartan fabric, preferably woven rather than printed as both sides of the fabric will be visible when the plaid is worn. Light weight tartans such as brushed cotton shirt fabric are best as they will drape better than the traditional woolen fabrics. You can usually find mini plaid fabrics at heirloom sewing stores. For the sporrans you will need soft leather or leatherette/vinyl fabric for the every day sporran and fur fabric for the front of the purse style sporran. The Balmoral Bonnet is made from velvet, woolen or fleece fabric. I used lightweight Barathea, but any soft drape fabric will work, e.g. flannel. HIGHLAND DRESS SHIRT The shirt pattern is designed for lightweight woven shirting fabrics such as cotton or polycotton lawn, percale, chambray etc.

I changed up the pattern to make a long-tail Tux and basically followed the patterns sewing instructions which are very easy to follow - I had never sewn anything like this jacket before and found this to be pretty easy (except I should have used a thinner fabric for the lining, I do not recommend using cotton)!
This bundle contains the Boy's Prince Charlie Jacket and Vest, Highland Dress Shirt and Highland Accessories. All patterns have instructions that are easy to follow and give good results. All the patterns fit the doll very well. The Boy's Prince Charlie Jacket and Vest pattern not only gives an excellent jacket and vest for a Highland Dance outfit or a Highland formal dress outfit, but cold be used to make a modern formal tux jacket and vest. The construction is beautifully done and gives a jacket without and visible seams. The Highland Dress shirt fits very well. It has two options, a flat front and a pleated front. I found that both also made an excellent modern shirt. The Highland Dress Accessories and the perfect finish to the Boy's Highland Dress and Dance outfits. Who doesn't want a tiny doll sized sporran? Well, I sure did. Again, there are two equally fine options, a fur sporran or a leather look sporran. The tam is just totally cute (and made my doll think he looked like Dhougal MacKenzie). The fly plaid is a nice accessory to have.
Love this collection. This pattern group is for the jacket, vest, shirt, sporran and cap, only. Be sure to get the "Unisex Bundle" that goes with this set -- it contains the kilt, shoes and socks. I made the complete sets of boy and girl Highland outfits. They are remarkably detailed. The patterns are well written and the fit was great. I reviewed each of the Highland patterns separately, so please look there for more details.
