Peplum Top

This top turned out really cute. Definitely not for beginners, however. The only trouble I had was getting the scallop right; it turned out to be more of a V. I need to work on that a bit. If anyone has tips on how to achieve that please let me know.

Peplum Top for 18" American Girl Doll

the overall experience of using this pattern was good! I did make a change though, because I was pressed for time. I did not install a zipper in the back, but used velcro. Overall it turned out cute. I used a shiny polyester fabric since it was for a dance "costume" to match my granddaughters dance costume. I found once it was done, that the fabric pulled out at the seams easily, because the fabric frays. I needed to put a couple drops of fray stop where some threads were starting to pop out, because of the 1/4" seams. So make sure it's a good quality fabric for those tiny seams, small turning spaces. The pattern itself was very easy, understandable. Maybe the "notches" were a little large for the small seam allowance. Next time I will make them a little smaller.

Nice pattern with some size modifications

I like the instructions for how to use a zipper with a lined bodice. I used the pattern for the top of a dress and found I will need to make the bodice slightly narrower next time as the fit is too loose for my tastes.

Looks great as a dress, too!

I love the sweetheart neckline on this top. I made it into a dress by lengthening the bottom ruffle, and used Velcro to close the back instead of the zipper without needing to make any modifications to the back pattern pieces. So, if you don't have the right zippers on hand or just don't like putting in zippers like me, it's not a problem to switch to Velcro. The directions for this were clear and easy to follow.
