The suit is a traditional form of men's formal clothes in the Western world and has been around for about four hundred years as a suit of a matching coat, trousers and waistcoat. After the end of the first World War, most men adopted the short lounge coated suit. During the decades that followed, the size of the lapel had changed from wide to a very narrow size. Suit jackets were also cut as straight as possible without any indication of a waistline. Lately, the wearing of suits has become far less common than it once was and is now usually reserved for formal and business activities.

Just what I needed to dress up my boy doll. Great patterns!!
My wife really loved the pattern & the instructions/guides was easy to follow.
Wished the pattern had been done just for 18" AG Boy and had included a vest and tie for that price. All in all it was a good pattern and I will be making a couple of more suits.
Excellent - I needed a jacket pattern for a 'Minecraft' cloth doll I was making for a young man whose 18th birthday - his parents asked me to make it for him; he has made a film with his friends of himself dressed as the character! I needed to reduce the pattern to 75% on my printer, as although my doll was 18" tall, he was quite slim. The reduction worked absolutely perfectly, except that I lengthened the Jacket as the original looked a little on the short side. The instructions were easy to follow and were helped by the diagrams. I lined the jacket throughout - there were no instructions on how to do this. I learned a lot from making the jacket, especially the lapels, which turned out to be veryy easy. I thoroughly enjoyed making it and I am really pleased with how it turned out. To top it all, the young man was absolutely delighted with his doll, complete with a 7cm square boxhead! Thank you for this pattern, I had searched everywhere for a jacket pattern for this size doll but they were all not very nice and seemed 'not in perspective', either in the arms, the length of the jacket, the collar, or the sleeves, if you understand what I mean. With just minor tweaking, this jacket turned out perfect!
