The lure of Ancient Egypt comes to life in this sandal design.
Based upon artifacts found in the tomb of Tutankhamun , these leather sandals are specifically designed to fit the foot of the Australian Girl™ doll, with the strap thin enough to fit between the doll's first and second toes.
The upturned and pointed toe of the sandal is typical of this ancient design, which also has a high wide instep strap.
The sandals can be plain leather or richly decorated with gold and bright painted pictures and symbols or beaded in bright colours like blue, white, red, yellow and green, mimicking the faïence beads that the Egyptians used for decorations. The instructions for both beading and painted decoration are given in the pattern.

Recommended Fabrics: Smooth firm leather 1mm (Kangaroo leather was used for the examples) and 2mm leather with a suede surface.

A smooth firm leather,
*1 piece of 1mm leather approximately 6” x 8”
*1 piece of 2mm suede backed leather approximately 4” x 4.5”
*Thonging -24” to 30” of ⅛”wide leather
*Leather Glue (Tacky™ Glue)
For Beaded Option:
*Beading Thread
*Needle
*Seed Beads (Size 10)
For Pained Option:
* Gel Pens or Acrylic Paints
* small paintbrush size 000 (For Paints only)
