Rising Star 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

6 reviews   |

The simple outline of this 1930s Depression Era dress is dolled up with a few special details that make it charming enough for a child star. The dress is a basic knee-length a-line with short, delicately puffed sleeves. The dress opens all the way in the back and fastens with four buttons for easy dressing. The focal point is a pleated front insert finished on either side with a series of points that are secured to the dress with decorative buttons. As a finishing touch, the collar and sleeve cuffs are cut in points that echo the front detail.

Another great pattern, a nice little challenge too. This will be in regular rotation for Kit Kittredge!

Haven’t tried it yet. Whenever I see a Keepers Dolly Duds archived pattern come up I get it. I found Eve Coleman just before she retired and I love her patterns . Keep them coming!

      Rising Star 18" doll dress

I love this pattern. I had to read the instructions in some areas more than once, but it all came together beautifully. I made mine in two different yellows.

      Rising Star Dress

I had a lot of fun making this one. Definitely not a fast sew, but enjoyable. I wouldn't want to make this for sales production, but for enjoyment of process, and for the finished project, I loved it. I love the design. It reminds me of the pleasure I get from the old Pleasant Company historical dolls and outfits - outfits designed for young girls, not the trendy designs I see these days. (I must be getting old!)

      1930's Rising Star

I tested this pattern and enjoyed making it. Follow the directions for the points, shorten your stitch length as recommended and sew slowly and you will have one really cute dress for your doll.
