The Long Winter Coat and Hood 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

7 reviews   |

Brave the winter in this Laura Ingalls Wilder inspired Victorian Era coat and hood. The fully lined coat has a flared back that gives it an elegant drape and plenty of room for full skirts and the trim tailored front buttons down the front from the neckline to the lower front cut-away. The turned down edges of the two patch pockets are fastened with matching buttons. The front opening, hemline, and sleeves can be finished with decorative embroidery or trim and for added interest, the sleeve cuffs, pocket linings, and collar can be made in a complementary fabric. The fully lined hood is made separately from the coat and is tied on with an attached scarf. It can be finished with decorative machine embroidery and tassels.

Mix and Match Patterns

I hand build and sell Philadelphia Mummer dolls. Mummer's are well known for costumes! I've bought through time a list of patterns. Make adjustments for my needs. This is a 20's flapper and is two patterns I bought from this sight. One of, being this winter coat. EVERYTHING I've bought to date are great affordable patterns! What I like the most is the download and print!

Long Winter Coat and Hood

I had no problems with the construction of the doll jacket. The instructions were easy to follow and the jacket looks great! Working on the skirt now!

Great patterns

Nice clear instructions, helpful pictures, and they turned out great! My 11-year old daughter completed the dress and bonnet by herself :)

Amazing Detail

This coat is a beautifully drafted pattern with traditional tailored details. It is fun to sew with just enough detail to keep your interest without being overly challenging. The end result is stunning. I made the coat in a fine navy blue wool with a red lining and trimmed it with a red feather stitch in rayon embroidery thread. Another fabulous pattern from Thimbles and Acorns.

Very easy to modify and elegant in completion

I've made a long pseudo historic coat for a 70cm male doll with this pattern. It was very easy to modify and looked elegant when finished. I made it in a wool broadcloth with an interlining (for body) and a full lining. Because this was for a male doll, I omitted the hood entirely and used braid frogs for a closure.
