The Liberty Jane® Euro Libby: Piccadilly Peacoat PDF Pattern will delight your 18-inch American Girl Doll!
Your doll will be ready to jump on the London bus and head straight to Piccadilly Circus in this adorable fully lined peacoat. This is a classic with a twist - charming inset pleats along the back, finished with a belt.
The double-breasted front features a row of functional buttons so your doll can wear her coat open or buttoned up. Decorative welt pockets run along topstitched princess seams. Cuffs are accented with two tiny buttons.
Suggested fabrics include wool, wool blends, suiting type fabrics, corduroy or velveteen. We used a lightweight wool which tailors beautifully with a little steam from the iron. A rayon lining was used to line the coat but a poly lining would also work nicely.
Skill Level: Intermediate You will need the basic understanding of how to use a sewing machine and be familiar with sewing straight seams as well as curved seams. Jacket has three functional buttons, you will need a buttonhole foot attachment for your machine or know how to sew them by hand.

This is a wonderful pattern. Easy to use, as there are photos showing each step of the sewing. The coat is fully lined, it was super easy. I made 4 coats for my daughter's dolls, and they all turned out beautiful. I bought ultrasuede jackets at the thrift store and "upcycled" them all into darling little coats. I highly recommend this pattern for anyone wanting the perfect jacket for their modern doll(s).
The instructions and pattern were well thought out and easy to follow. This is NOT for a beginner sewer. It finishes beautifully, but does take quite a bit of time to finish properly. My major complaint is that the pattern fits too snuggly for the standard doll and for older American Girls it will not fit. I would recommend increasing the pattern by about 10% so that back fits better and arms and not so snug when there is clothes underneath. I felt the back could be about an inch wider and arms were snug also. If you did 1/8th inch seams it might work but increasing the size slightly would be best. I will make this pattern again, but larger. Again, kudos to the instructions and the pattern pieces. Well worth your time and money.
made one of cotton in a spring print to coordinate with a dress. pattern was very well designed. went together very well. easy enough for me to sew. great results.
