Cute duffle bag pattern

This was pretty easy to sew. I centered the straps to make it a little easier to attach them. I inserted foam interfacing in the two round ends and it makes the bag hold it's shape really well. I love the size of the bag for the 18" doll. I paired the duffle bag with the Army Combat Uniform pattern and was really happy with the look it created.

challenging suitcases

Overall the pattern was fine. As an experienced sewist, I still found attaching the top of the case a bit of a challenge. This is because there isn't much "give" in the assembly due to cardstock and interfacing. Nothing can be done about that. The suitcases are very cute and I know that my granddaughter will love them.

Gave me a good head start

I made the garment bag and duffle bag. I used faux leather fabrics, Metallics and fancy zippers for a high end look, and they turned out really fabulous. I did enlarge the garment bag significantly to fit over a large AG hanger. I found it necessary to lengthen the zipper opening in order to slide the dress on the hanger into the garment bag. I also used clear vinyl in the mid section of the garment bag to show off the dress. Doing this requires that you rethink the zipper installation, etc. I recommend this pattern for more experienced sewers who like a head start but have no trouble adapting as needed.

Girls on the go

This is a very simple, cute pattern, however there are a couple of problems. The center front piece is too narrow. The pattern doesn't allow for the folds for the zipper and that makes the front about 3/4" narrower than the back. Also, it is very small. I will definitely make this again but will cut both a little wider (in addition to the front panel) and will make it at least three inches longer. None of my dresses fit in it without bunching up. Haven't tried the other two pieces yet.
