After watching several videos on how to make veils, I couldn't figure out how to fold the veil such that the ribbon was always on the top. If you sew ribbon around the upper side of the tulle and then fold it in half, on one layer of the veil, you will have the right side of the ribbon showing, but the 2nd layer of the veil will have the back side of the ribbon showing. Since this pattern had a Bonus Veil included with step by step instructions, I decided to spend the $6 to get the answer. It turns out that this pattern doesn't provide any more information than other sources online. The pattern also doesn't provide a recommended width for the lace/ribbon. I can't comment on the dress pattern itself since the doll dress matches the First Communion gown. If you are purchasing this pattern for the Veil, just look at online sources.
I used this pattern to make a first communion dress. The pattern is easy to follow, and easy to adapt to one's own design preferences. The fit of the dress is perfect! This is a very good, very versatile pattern that I will be able to use for many different "special occasion" dresses.
