Sewing Tiny purses Part Four: Scaling Down and Tips For Success!

Hi Everyone! I'm back to wrap up the topic, Sewing Tiny Purses, with an in-depth look at creating these tiny treasures! It's been so fun to explore the world of purses, from historical elegance to modern day. The Palestrina Petal Reticule has been such an interesting project. If you're not into sewing historical outfits, it could be a darling addition to a fairy costume too!

At the beginning of the topic I asked you for some input into what challenges we should address to help you overcome any fear you might have with the idea of sewing something so tiny! The feedback was great, lots' of comments about general fabric types, where to find tiny hardware, what notions work well, how to scale down a bag to a smaller doll, and more...

In this video I've tried to tackle most of the issues, while crating a few purses along the way. I had a blast scaling down both the Miche Bag and The Lipstick Purse for Barbie Fashion Dolls - so tiny, but oh so cute!

The video is a bit long, so here's a breakdown of the general timeline if you want to skip ahead or pop back in for a refresher on a specific part.

I love all the little accessories for the dolls. Thank you for showing us the different fabric that can be used for the purses. I really appreciate how you scaled down the patterns to fit Barbie and other dolls. I too have always loved miniatures, for not only my dollhouse, but for Barbie and the AG 18" dolls. When dressing my dolls, I always accessorize with socks & shoes and hairbows, jewelry, etc. It really adds realism, which is what makes the dolls look so special. This “Sewing Tiny Purses” video is one of your best. Thank you so much.
