Hi Everyone! In Part 2 we explore the possibilities of creating super cute custom rainwear with custom made vinyl coated cotton fabric. Follow along as I show you how easy it is to transform a piece of regular quilting cotton into a lightweight durable waterproof fabric, perfect for creating tiny rain coats, rain boots, and more!
DIY Vinyl Laminated Cotton Fabric:
Refer to the tips and tricks for sewing with vinyl coated cotton fabric posted in Part 1 for any questions you might have about sewing with this fabric.
By now you should have your fabric choice finalized. Take time to read over the pattern, prep your fabric, cut out all the pieces, and apply the interfacing if desired. In Part 3, we will begin to sew the coat together starting with the Hood and Hood lining.
So clever! What are you using as a pressing surface Cinnamon? It is definitely not your ironing board!
Can anyone tell me how much of the vinyl is needed for one “Singing In The Rain” raincoat? I am finding Pellon vinyl 15″ × 2yds for $13.99 at Joann’s. Clearly, one will not be enough.
I have been wondering how I could find a small print for a raincoat. Thank you so much for opening a world of creativity!
That is so clever. I tried to find it at my local craft store (JoAnne’s) and I could not find any. Do I need to order it from Amazon?
Fun! I’m busy sewing for my show that’s in a few days, but I’m looking forward to trying some of these ideas!
WOW- how clever is that- rain coat material is often difficult to find with a small print. This makes it easy. Thank you so much for the wonderful idea.
